Organic Farming

Organic farming is farming without the use of pesticides. The process of planting organically first starts with a seed potato, which is a potato that has been cut and has an eye or, more simply, where the potato has begun to grow. Next the seed is put in a planter and placed in the ground. About three to five times a season the potatoes are sprayed with a blue, powdery substance that is mixed with water to keep the bugs off of the plants.

The potatoes are hilled with a plow several times through the summer to make the harvest easier. Organic farmers” flame “the potatoes two or three times to kill the tops of the plants. The potatoes are than harvested, over a months time, and stored for future shipping.
