Project Overview
The purpose of this project is to create a community based web site that
enhances interest in the Aroostook County potato industry. The project,
funded by the Libra Foundation and created by MLTI, brought teams from
all over the State of Maine to Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia
to utilize the resources of their technology department. The team named
itself TATER ACT, which stands for Technology and Teams Educating Researching
Aroostook County Tubers. Central Aroostook Jr./Sr. High School, located
in Mars Hill, ME and Cunningham Middle School, located in Presque Isle
joined forces and worked together toward the common goal to promote the
potato industry. The schools are located in small communities where the
potato industry is an integral part of life. Students spent a great deal
of time over their summer vacation collecting information, conducting
interviews and touring local businesses.
This web site is a student-generated, project- based learning endeavor.
